Spell Save Difficulty Class (DC)
This is the specific difficulty class (DC) generated by a spellcaster. It determines how difficult it is for a target to resist a spell's effect.
Spell Save DC = 8 + Proficiency Bonus + Spellcasting Ability Modifier + any special modifiers
A spell save DC is represented as a number that a creature must meet or beat in order to succeed on a spell saving throw and mitigate the effects of a given spell.
For example, a fireball cast by a wizard may have spell save DC 14 (8 + 3 Proficiency + 3 Intelligence). As defined by the spell, creatures at the point of impact must make a Dexterity saving throw. They take half damage if they succeed by meeting or beating the DC 14 and full damage if they fail.
